Cím: A nyílt forráskódú szoftverfejlesztés társadalmi és ideológiai háttere
Absztrakt: Az infokommunikációs technológiák fejlődésében nem pusztán a technikai fejlesztések szerepét, trendjeit érdemes vizsgálni, hanem azok létrejöttének társadalmi, ideológiai környezetét – a különböző értékeket, normákat, elképzeléseket. Különösen jó példája lehet ezen elképzeléseknek a szabad és nyílt forráskódú szoftverfejlesztés, melyet már kezdetétől döntően befolyásol a fejlesztésének társas környezete. Az alábbi írásban – elsősorban az Ubuntu Linux disztribúció példáján keresztül – arra igyekszem rámutatni, milyen társadalmi hatások, víziók, elvárások álltak és állnak a nyílt forráskódú fejlesztés hátterében, s ezeknek milyen hatásuk van a technológiai fejlesztésekre, illetve a közösség elképzelésére? A cikkben a Linux kialakulását lehetővé tévő domináns társadalmi ideológiák és professzionális praxisok 1960-as évekbeli kialakulásától napjaink változásáig igyekszem áttekinteni a technológiai innováció mögött álló társadalmi hátteret.

Cím: The Social and Ideological Background of Open Source Software Development
Absztrakt: In the development of info-communication technologies one should study not only the rule of distinct trends and technological innovation, but also the social and ideological context of their emergence – the sphere of different values, norms and ideas. A prominent example for the pivotal role of ideological background of computing is free and open source development, for it was strongly influenced by its social context from the beginnings. Here I would like to show – mostly through the example of Ubuntu Linux distribution – what kind of social impacts, visions, expectations were and are present in open source development, and how do they influence technological development and the concepts of community? In this article I try to provide an overview on the social context, the dominant ideas and professional practices behind Linux development from the 1960s until today.
