Title: Digitális egyenlőtlenségek a fiatalok körében Subtitle: mítosz vagy valóság? Abstract: A tanulmány az internetet használó magyarországi fiatalok körében mutatkozó digitális egyenlőtlenségekről végzett empirikus kutatás eredményeit foglalja össze.

Title: Digital inequalities among Hungarian youth Subtitle: myth or reality? Abstract: This paper is a brief account on empirical research on digital inequalities in a special target group of young (19-29 year-old) Hungarian users of information technology. The author reviews general theories of knowledge-based or information society, including recent approaches and research trends. Narrowing this wider frame of interpretation, she focusses on digital inequalities in the access to and the use of new communication technologies: the model of digital inequalities. Her investigation is based on the research agenda set out by DiMaggio and co-authors. An important outcome of her analysis is postulating that neither those advocating radical changes nor their opponents regarding the information society as a myth are fully right: the relationship between society and the new communication technologies is co-evolutionary, which may dissolve the dispute about the effects of new info-communication technologies on society.
