Title: Felmérés a magyarországi Internet-használatról: betegség, vagy korosztályra jellemző tünet?

Title: Surveying Internet usage in Hungary: Is Internet-addiction a disease or an age-specific symptom? Subtitle: Evaluation of dependence on the Internet as shown by two investigations Abstract: Dependence on the Internet is analyzed on the basis of information accessed through online surveys. The results are theoretically interpreted by the authors, and recommendations are formulated not only for those regarded sick but for Internet-users in general, in particular for the members of the younger generation and for those belonging to their social environment. The authors maintain that in Hungary we cannot talk about Internet-addiction as a serious disease, but should pay attention to a not too frequently occurring pathological overuse of the Interner. This is not a nosological case in its own right but rather a complex psychological phenomenon, which may as well carry some possibilities of a new kind of integration for the personality. To help those "infected" or damaged, the authors recommend the establishment of virtual mental hygiene clinics on the Interner, to be used by those in need as freely accessible web havens.
