Abstract (translation) |
Ever since the emergence of written communication there has been a natural desire for utilizing multimedia tools, which gained further momentum on the Internet. Messages communicated over the World Wide Web, thanks to their suitable nature for multimedial presentation, are assuming a uniform structure. All this is a phenomenon of the new literacy displacing the Gutenberg galaxy. Interactive texts on the Internet, with their speed, unstructured dialogues, and specific symbols and signs, approximate the spontaneous verbal forms of direct human communication. As regards the latter, the author presents a detailed, in-depth analysis of the usage of the so-called smiley code, as surveyed among Hungarian Internet-users.
