Abstract: A Gondolat-Infonia kiadásában az idén újabb hiánypótló könyv jelent meg „Az információs társadalom klasszikusai” sorozatban. A tavalyi két, ma már klasszikusnak számító kötet (Beniger, Mattelart) után immár Castells nagy ívű trilógiájának („Az információ kora – Gazdaság, társadalom és kultúra) első kötete is elérhető magyarul. „A hálózati társadalom kialakulása” címet viselő, vaskos munkát Castells korunk egyik legfontosabb társadalomszervező elvének, a hálózati paradigma bemutatásának szentelte. A szerzők végigkísérik Castells főbb megállapításait a hálózati társadalom kialakulásáról. Elemzésükben sorra veszik Castells főbb fogalmait, esetenként aktualizálva mondanivalóját, és bemutatják azt a hálózati világot, amely a modern technológiáknak köszönhetően a társadalom, a gazdaság, a kultúra és a politika, vagyis az élet valamennyi rendszerében jelen van.

Abstract: Another suppletory book has recently been published by Gondolat-Infonia, in the „Classics of the information society" series. Now, in addition to last year's two classic volumes by James Beniget and Armand Mattelatt, the first volume of Castells's grand trilogy „The Information Age - Economy, Society and Culture" is also available in Hungarian. This voluminous opus titled „The rise of the network society" has been devoted by its author to the introduction of one of the most important principles of social organization in our age, the network paradigm. The reviewers follow Castells's main line of argument on the emergence of the network society. In their analysis, they present Castells's main notions, in certain cases updating his facts, and introduce the net-worked world which, thanks to modern technologies, is present in all systems of society (in the economy, in culture, and in politics), that is, in our lives.
