Title: Környezeti informatika és a fenntartható információs társadalom víziója
Abstract: A tanulmány a kibontakozó információs társadalom és a fenntarthatóság mint cél közötti kapcsolatokat tárgyalja. Hogyan járulhat hozzá az információs technológia a fenntartható fejlődéshez? Melyek az információs társadalom lehetőségei és kockázatai a fenntarthatóság mint elérendő cél szempontjából? A szerző az információs és kommunikációs technológiák (IKT) és a fenntarthatóság közötti kölcsönhatások két fő területét, nevezetesen a környezeti információk feldolgozásával foglalkozó környezeti informatikát (Environmental Informatics) és az információs társadalom működésében releváns szerepet játszó technológiák (röviden: információs társadalmi technológiák) hatásait vizsgálja.

Title: Environmental Informatics and the Vision of a Sustainable Information Society
Abstract: This paper discusses the relationship between the emerging information society and the goal of sustainability. How can information technology contribute to sustainable development? What are the opportunities and risks of the information society with regard to the goal of sustainability? Two major areas of interaction between Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and sustainability are discussed: environmental information processing (Environmental Informatics) and the impacts of Information Society Technologies.
