Title: Internet és társadalomtudomány Subtitle: a kutatás helyzete Abstract: Az Internet-tudomány az elmúlt években végigment a diszciplínává válás útján.

Title: Internet and social science Subtitle: the state of affairs in the field of research Abstract: The emerging Internet-science has recently undergone the process of becoming a new discipline. It has about fifty reviewed journals, the most important of which have proved that today there are virtually no up-to-date battles in the field of the social sciences without digital reinforcements. The professional literature dealing with the Internet, organized in various chains and networks of reference, can rightfully boast of approximately half a thousand volumes, two dozens of "classics", and 50 to 60 significant opuses. There is a fast-growing network of research institutions, with about fifty newly established institutes specializing in various aspects of the Net or the Web. About 400 international conferences are annually held on Internet-related issues. In his comprehensive study the author demonstrates the articulation of this expanding universe of research, digesting and systematizing social and theoretical studies of the Internet along the following four principal axes of investigation: online research, online social science, Internet-research, and the social science of the Internet.
