Cím: Kommunikációtudomány és Internet Alcím: Internet-kommunikáció Absztrakt: Az információs társadalom kommunikációelméleti kérdéseinek vizsgálata a társadalomtudományok egyik prioritást élvező kutatási iránya lett. Az Internet olyan sokoldalú tömegkommunikációs médium, amely a kommunikáció sok különböző formáját teszi lehetővé. Az Interneten folyó különböző kommunikáció típusain belül azonban sem a „tömeg” nagysága, sem a kommunikáció jellege nem határozható meg minden szempontból pontosan. A szerző rövid áttekintést ad arról, hogy a tömegkommunikáció-kutatás terén korábban kidolgozott elméletek és módszerek mennyiben alkalmazhatók az új médiumokra. A téma legfontosabb elméleti diskurzusainak bemutatásával arra keresi a választ, hogy a kommunikációkutatóknak miért kell tanulmányozniuk az Internetet.

Cím: Communication theory and the Internet Alcím: Internet-communication Absztrakt: Exploring the new problems of communication emerging in the information society has become one of the priority areas of investigations in social sciences. The Internet is a multi-faceted mass medium that makes diverse forms of communication possible. Concerning the various practices of communication going on over the Internet, neither the size of the "mass" nor the type of the communication can be precisely defined from all angles. The author gives a brief survey on how and to what extent the approaches and methodologies elaborated in communication theory for the "old" mass media can be applied to the new ones. By demonstrating major recent theoretical discourses, she is seeking the whys and wherefores of communication research efforts bound to study the Internet.
