Absztrakt: Az Internet és a történelem kapcsolatainak feltárása önálló, összetett és komoly kihívást jelentő kutatási terepet kínál. Az elemzés nem szűkíthető le az Internet történetére: a hálózatot a történeti kutatások új szakmai infrastruktúrájaként és a történeti tudás terjesztésének új felületeként is vizsgálni kell. A digitális hálózati kultúra meghatározó erejű hatást gyakorol a történettudományra és a történeti tudatra. A tanulmány – illusztrációként az Internet történetéhez – kimutatja, hogy azt nemcsak a huszadik század hatvanas éveinek közepéig kell visszavezetnünk, és a hálózati kommunikáció „virágkorát” sem csupán a kilencvenes évek derekától számíthatjuk. A kezdetek fellelhetők már a telegráf hálózatokban, a rádióamatőr mozgalomban, majd a hetvenes évek során egyes országokban kiépített nemzeti információs infrastruktúrákban, illetve a hálózati elv gondolkodástörténeti úttörőinek munkásságában. Mindezek mögött felsejlik a teljes kommunikáció- és könyvtártörténet.
Cím: The science of history and the Internet: challenges, subject matter, and prehistory
Absztrakt: The field of study often referred to as the history of the Interner is nor merely the continuation of the history of the computer, but an independent area of research, far exceeding its predecessor in complexity. In addition to this, we cannot restrict ourselves to studying the history of the Interner, bur it is also necessary to examine the Net as research infrastructure and as a new interface for spreading knowledge in general. The Internet and the entire digital culture have a profound impact on historical research and historical awareness. The author demonstrates, through several examples, that regarding the history of the Internet, it is not sufficient to start the investigations from the middle of the sixties of the 20th century, and networking did nor just start blooming in the middle of the nineties. The beginnings should be traced back to the telegraph, the radio amateur movement, and several experiments accomplished in the seventies to create computer-based national information networks. Our historical perspective should illuminate recent phenomena against the back-drop of the entire history of librarianship, and communication in general.
